Meet Meta. When her human family found themselves in crisis, they couldn’t care for her anymore. Thankfully, Lost Our Home Pet Rescue (LOH) in Arizona was able to take Meta in and help her find a new forever home. LOH serves a special place in this community, rescuing pets like Meta who would otherwise face homelessness or worse due to financial, domestic violence, or medical crisis. And LOH needs your help now.

This year, stories like Meta’s are becoming more and more common. With the economic fallout of COVID-19 in the United States, domestic violence and homelessness are both on the rise, and for those facing these hardships with pets, the pet faces the unthinkable through no fault of their own. With this increase in need, LOH needs to revamp their facilities to better care for incoming cats.

That’s where Greater Good Charities comes in. Our program The Jackson Galaxy Project is launching a new initiative, Operation Catification, to improve spaces that help cats in shelters that need it most. Our experts, designer Kate Benjamin and the Cat Daddy himself Jackson Galaxy, are working with our Rescue Rebuild team to help Lost Our Home Pet Rescue revamp their spaces in late summer 2021.

The plan is to renovate five cat rooms to lower stress, increase chances for adoption, and improve the quality of life for all these cats who escape crisis. Two of the rooms will be specifically dedicated to the most critical needs cats who escaped crisis situations like domestic violence and need care, while three will be used for adoptable cats like Meta. The rooms will be themed as a play room, bedroom and master bedroom, living room, and kitchen. They'll all be full of cat shelves, hideaways, climbers, hammocks, and more.

You can help equip this shelter with everything it needs to take in more cats. Plus, BI Cares is generously matching donations dollar for dollar up to $30,000! Your gift will help create more incredible spaces designed just for cats at Lost Our Home, so that both domestic violence victims and their furry family can feel like they have a place to call home until they’re ready to get back on their feet. Donate today!
